Today ain't gonna be about moi...much. In this special post, I'd like to bring forward some of my favorite Fall Winter 2012 trends! Gahh, it's finally coming. I'm a very "fall winter" person because I love torturing my skin under the hot weather in Singapore. Nah, I always find cold weather looks slightly more...."formal".
But then again, I'm overzealous over pastel and floral print trends from this season....I'm just insane over fashion, and yes I'm a trend-tracker. Period.

I strongly believe in staying current.

I spent a good 3 hours at Zara today and got myself an insanely beautiful White Jacquard Blazer. What got me weak is the peaked shoulders....dainty textures + masculine cuts = <3 Oddly, I bought a macrame knitted top too, it's quite me since its black haha. I will post up swag-me-photos soon this week! So, why the "heavy texture" buys? Because its MAJOR in Fall Winter 2012. Now, I gotta start hunting for heavily embellished blazers.

The following are my Top 5 Fall Winter 2012 Trends, hope you enjoy the content! Think for next post I'll  elaborate on le Baroque trend <3

Jessica Stein (LOOKBOOK.NU)
Indeed, still a popular design for Fall. Wear yours like a boss, leather peplum with flared pants.

Coordinated suit color is very important for this season. Especially in key colors of wine red and pine green.

Balmain Fall Winter 2012 / Image source:
Designers are trending history. Think bejeweled patterns, ornate embellishments, brocade, damask....pretty much what Daphne appreciates. I. LOVE. STATEMENT. WEAR.

Salvatore Ferragamo Fall Winter 2012 / Image source:
They say, once you go black you never go back. This look is particularly important for the "Dark Romance" story. Think black on black texture mixing, heavy and sheer combo, all done with a tinge of "gothic-ness" in it.

Fren-zy: A state or period of uncontrolled excitement or wild behavior.
Before we go into "frenzy" subject matter, I was at L'ile aux Ashby [by Rayson Tan] Popup, pronounce as "L" "OR" "ASH" "B" one of those brand name that stays in your head. I came to know about this by none other than the lovely Fashion Editor of Couture Troopers, Jessica Ye.

Think dynamic color dimensions, think prodigy of colors, think uncontrolled excitement on statement-making ensembles and accessories! I truly think the man behind this label is genius.

Another big reason why I was there is because of John Tan, the inspirational and passionate photographer behind Street Peek. It's not just his works, but his charisma = Le "x" factor.

So, out of all the frenzy that went on that day...I met Amanda Wong, another young talent in photography ;)

Until then, enjoy the wild behavior shots and stay tuned to this space for an exciting fashion update!

Zara Pastel Blazer / Zara Engineered Print Sheer Tunic / H&M Chrome Choker / Thomas Wylde "Day of the Dead" Clutch

Sunday, 1 July 2012

If you know me well and (long) enough, you will know that I never had a thing for prints (I'm okay with classic geometry patterns) but never floral or simply just anything non-geometric. Since 2011, the no. of solid colored / black clothing started thinning in my wardrobe. Now it’s only about 30% of total hanging space. The rest are pretty much me admitting defeat to Spring Summer 2012 trends (brights, pastels, ombre, dip-dye, fantasy prints).

Yesterday I snatched myself a jaw-dropping (prabal gurung-inspired) mirror-effect printed tunic from Zara. The best part? It’s sheer. DIED. (will post photo within this week!)There’s a lot more but due to limited size availability  my wallet was unburned. Also, special thanks to Nigel for getting me a Panther print-inspired top from his recent holiday!

Thank you, Nigel!
How come the sudden love for prints? Well, this is not your average batik print or paisley maxi dress.
We are talking about, CONVERSATIONAL PRINTS…Now let’s take a look at the menu, shall we?

To spread my love for this season’s digital, optical, abstract, painting, conversational, enigmatic, etc prints…here are some styles to blow your mind forever.

Weak for sheer-over-fierce prints look. I LOVE YOU RICCARDO!

I think most of you know by now that Daphne Guinness is my greatest Style Icon.
With this post, my love for her is official. She’s a style connoisseur, fashion goddess and an inspiring art maven. Daphne Guinness is the reigning queen of fashion and style today. Once mentioned that she loathes the word “eccentric” and would rather be associated with the term “bohemian” (that is if one needs to be labeled)

I believe if you classify someone as your style icon, you gotta be #superobsessed. By this I mean stalking her photos, interviews (both written and in motion), articles, etc. Yes I am an (active) follower of @therealdaphne on Twitter. Come to think about it, it’s not love, it takes two. This is more like avid adoration.

Whenever I conduct fashion workshops, especially on Avant Garde topic, my audience can only respond “But its art-to-wear, it’s not practical to wear”. Well well well my dear, have you heard of the lady Daphne Guinness?

“She collects clothing from uncompromising, provocative, artistic-minded designers such as her good belated friend Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaia and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel as well as cutting-edge garments from young designers as if they are works of art…Most people have difficulty pulling off the clothes she wears. She models it as naturally as the average person would wear jeans and a t-shirt. She’s never had a wardrobe malfunction or looked uncomfortable in even the most avant-garde couture.

Art is the skin she lives in.

John + Michelle + Nigel =  Street Style Gone Wild
Working with John is a breeze. "Fashion is also about having fun!"
If street style in GIF is not yet a viral phenomenon, I believe it will infect all very soon...
Special thanks to John Tan for the always-so-wonderful photos!

Lace is one of the longest and most popular fabric in fashion history, we simply can't deny that lace is omnipresent. Lace, as a whole, embodies luxury, sophistication and opulence. But what fascinates me the most is that "alter-ego" effect lace provides #alteregofashion

In soft hues, it is associated with everything dainty and ultra-feminine, think wedding. But, when it's black, it is intensely dark and provocative, think "Dark Romance" theme of Gothic iconography, opulent rock palette, old master paintings and Edwardian lace blouses....WHICH! very excitingly (for me) is going to be one of the most prominent trend for Fall Winter 2012.

And so to share my love for lace, I hope you will find the following "ABCs of Lace" to be of use or at least interesting ;)

Alencon Lace
Also known as the "Queen of Lace". A fine needlepoint lace. The clothwork of the design are made of closely packed buttonhole stitches. Motifs outlined with raised edging covered in tiny buttonhole stitches, also known as a Cordonnet (provides obvious identification of right side to the lace).

Broderie Anglaise
Also known as English Embroidery is a Whitework technique, designs sewn with a white thread onto a white fabric.

Chantilly Lace
Handmade bobbin lace. Known for its fine ground, outlined pattern and abundant detail. Best made of silk and were generally black. Another notable thing is the use of a half-and-whole stitch as a fill to achieve the effect of light and shadow in the pattern (usually flowers).

Lady Gaga BTWB (Born This Way Ball) @ Singapore, 29th May 2012. This woman is truly inspiring.
Watching her in the front row is Her voice, her theatrics, and especially her outfits. At times when I was supposed to be singing my lungs out, I just stood there, stunned <3
Here are some "proper" shots I got from my iPhone.
Gaga hot in latex.
Gaga on Bad Romance, outfit is so "Mugler"

Before making full-time commitment to fashion styling (almost 3 years ago), my "design and making clothes days" stopped at -- The Chella Provocateur Project.

Chella - a nickname given by my close friends (10 years ago).
Sometimes referred to as Chelle or Michella. No specific reasons why but I do remember that it was based on their preferences. Someway, somehow I got attached to the name and VOILA.
Chella became my "better half" and is now resting for a greater purpose.

Until then, here are some of the last few designs I brought to life for Chella:
Chella - Homme Provocateur Blazer w/ Signature Asymmetric Lapel

Recently, my stylist Nigel Narcissa graced Audi Fashion Festival 2012 in one of my Chella Provocateur designs...

Another unique feature is the asymmetric sharp hemline. Since I don't have a photo, I shall sketch it up and post it under Illustration page soon ;)
