DIVINE DAPHNE

I think most of you know by now that Daphne Guinness is my greatest Style Icon.

With this post, my love for her is official. She’s a style connoisseur, fashion goddess and an inspiring art maven. Daphne Guinness is the reigning queen of fashion and style today. Once mentioned that she loathes the word “eccentric” and would rather be associated with the term “bohemian” (that is if one needs to be labeled)

I believe if you classify someone as your style icon, you gotta be #superobsessed. By this I mean stalking her photos, interviews (both written and in motion), articles, etc. Yes I am an (active) follower of @therealdaphne on Twitter. Come to think about it, it’s not love, it takes two. This is more like avid adoration.

Whenever I conduct fashion workshops, especially on Avant Garde topic, my audience can only respond “But its art-to-wear, it’s not practical to wear”. Well well well my dear, have you heard of the lady Daphne Guinness?

“She collects clothing from uncompromising, provocative, artistic-minded designers such as her good belated friend Alexander McQueen, Azzedine Alaia and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel as well as cutting-edge garments from young designers as if they are works of art…Most people have difficulty pulling off the clothes she wears. She models it as naturally as the average person would wear jeans and a t-shirt. She’s never had a wardrobe malfunction or looked uncomfortable in even the most avant-garde couture.

Art is the skin she lives in.
